This article is to tell you my experience and why You Shouldn’t Spend Your Money On HuntWise.

There are a lot of options out there for hunting apps. All of them have their pros and cons, but I want to tell you about my experience with HuntWise. After all, when it comes to spending your money, it is your money that does the talking. I personally have been spending my money locally rather than through the Amazons and Walmarts of the world.

Spending your money at places that have good people working there and their overall agenda is similar to my own. I don’t want to spend my money where people don’t care about their customers and are only in it to make the all mighty dollar. Now don’t get me wrong, all businesses are in buisiness because they make money, but you shouldn’t have to ignore your customers, nor should you find ways to pad the scales or misrepresent a product, and certainly you shouldn’t be offering free merchandise without actually planning on giving that free item away, right?

Okay, so back to my story. I get an email from HuntWise, probably an ad campaign, and I see that they are giving away a free hat for subscribing to their PRO or ELITE plans. It says you have to get it before 10/23 to be eligible. In fact, here is the ad…

Now, wouldn’t you think you could get a hat? Well it isn’t so simple. My opinion is, they only plan on giving it to a few. Perhaps you have to purchase the yearly subscription to get it (over $100.00) I’m not sure because I didn’t get my hat.

So I assumed (and this is where we see who they really are) if I contact them and ask them about it, that they would make things right. The first guy I got told me that at the end of the month they would collect your information and send out the hats.

Well, the month ended and it’s half way through the next, so I contact them. They said you have to follow the link in order to get a hat. Did you see that anywhere? Because I missed it if it is there. Maybe it’s in the fine print. You know, the stuff you can’t read because they don’t want you too know it’s in there? And If I had a company and someone contacted me about it, I would look to see if they did indeed subscribe, and if so, send them what I promised, but not these guys. They told me,

“Good day,

The rest of the email said that you needed to use the link provided to qualify for the hat. If you did not use that link, you did not follow the directions provided.

Have a great day,
Chuck
Customer Support

Yeah, have a great day. I know when I am being brushed off. So maybe I’m wrong, … Let me go back and read every word in the email… Well, I have read the email several times. There is no where in the email that says you have to use the link in order to qualify. Perhaps they meant to put it in the email, but the fact is, it isn’t there. In my opinion, they should refund my money, or give me a hat. They are content to do neither. And this is who you are supporting if you give them your money. So this is why You Shouldn’t Spend Your Money On HuntWise.

If you want to give your money and support the guys who would rather pull wool over your eyes, then that is your choice, but for me, I want to know who I’m giving my money to so I am not promoting people who have interests in things I do not. When you spend your money here, its like voting for someone who wants to take your guns away.

Okay, I’m not going to keep going over this. Just be aware. Like I said in the beginning of the article, there are plenty of places that have apps for hunting deer. I for one will never get their app again. It is my opinion that You Shouldn’t Spend Your Money On HuntWise.

In the end, after several emails, I finally got the answer I deserved. In my opinion, it was too little, too late. And if I hadn’t complained over and over, they never would have said they would send me the hat, But even though they said they would send it, I declined receiving it. I won’t use their product and I cannot accept their product with a clear conscience (even though I’m entitled to it)

I also want to add, their app isn’t bad. It is an average hunting app. I can use Weather Underground and do the same thing, and guess what? It’s free… You live and you learn…

Homesteading is a term that means to be self-sufficient, self-reliant, and self-sustaining. It is a way of life for some, and well, just a little of the skills used by others, but the bottom line is, everyone is homesteading whether they know it or not. It includes canning and preserving foods, making your own clothing, repair work, growing a garden, raising bees, raising chickens and other farm animals. It includes cooking, crafts, collecting rain water, woodworking, composting… Wait, did I use cooking and composting in one sentence? Oh well, with homesteading, nothing is impossible. It includes survival skills, which includes fire building, trapping, hunting, fishing; are you starting to get the picture? It’s hard to live life without doing some kind of homesteading. Almost every DIY person or project uses these skills. From building houses to putting up fences, and even foraging for wild plants whether edible or medicinal. Homesteading isn’t just a way of life, it is how we all survive on the planet!

What we are doing in the Homesteading category is bringing you products that help make life easier as well as tips, tricks, and in-depth explanations on how it’s done. So sit back and relax while we do all the work. After you see some of these things done, you will probably want to try some, and then you can do the work.

If you would like to see some of the articles already in the Homesteading category, click on this link: HOMESTEADING. Hopefully we will all grow together. Take care and we’ll see you in the next one!

Have you ever thought about how you can make your home more environmentally friendly by implementing a circular model? It is a sustainable process that many businesses are using to improve their corporate social responsibility, however, many of the habits, processes, and technologies can also be applied within the home.

You can easily achieve this by implementing the following principles:

Refusing

Don’t buy what you don’t need.

Reducing

Consume as little as possible.

Reusing

How can the items that you currently own or purchase be reused in the future?

Recycling

Can the materials from the item that you have been used for a greater good in the future?

Rot

Will the item that you own or purchase biodegrade easily into the environment?

Here are some ways you can successfully achieve this in 2017:

Make a habit of recycling your used printer cartridges.

Used ink cartridges that end up in a landfill are hazardous to the environment. Typically, people think that they are doing the right thing by placing them in the recycling bin. The problem is that most recyclers don’t have the equipment to recycle ink cartridges. In the end, they end up going to landfill and contaminate the local ecosystem.

This can be prevented by separating used cartridges and sending them to an ethical recycler. Alternatively, you can choose to partner with an OEM printer cartridge supplier that has a relationship with a specialist printer cartridge recycler.

Reduce energy consumption by upgrading to eco-efficient lighting.

Most homes are fitted with incandescent light bulbs, which consume the most amount of energy. The problem with incandescent lighting is that 90% of the energy that is consumed is lost as heat. Additionally, if you want to increase the brightness of a space, you need to invest in a bulb that consumes more energy.

Upgrading to LED light bulbs can reduce your home’s lighting energy consumption by up to 80%. This is because the technology that is used within LED lights harnesses the energy that is typically lost as heat. Furthermore, the brightness can be adjusted in a way that doesn’t require additional energy consumption.

The initial upgrade to LED lights will cost a little more than investing in incandescent light bulbs. However, the price savings are much better in the long-term because of reduced energy consumption prices, maintenance, and replacement costs.

Purchase reusable bags.

Plastic bags are a huge problem for the environment.

According to Clean Up Australia, over 1 trillion bags are used and discarded every year. You can minimise this by purchasing and using reusable bags when doing your grocery shopping. Another solution is to use light fabrics like pillowcases or glass jars for storage as a substitute for plastic bags.

If you do use plastic bags, there are many supermarkets that will collect and recycle them.

Purchase your food items directly from food providers.

One of the most positive changes that you can make is purchasing your food items from local food providers. They will often be willing to provide you with food that is unpackaged, thus minimising waste.

You can purchase your fruits and vegetables from local farms or even farmer’s markets. They can weigh the items and then you can place the food items in your reusable carry bags.

If you want to purchase meats, then purchase them from your local butcher and place them in a recyclable container.

If you would like fresh bread, pastries or even biscuits; then head down to your local bakery and have them placed in jars or metal containers, where they will retain their freshness.

If you would like to get some inspiration, then check out this woman’s incredible story in the video below.

Having a more sustainable lifestyle shouldn’t be inconvenient. You can leverage technology, sustainable partners and adopt minor lifestyle changes that will positively impact your home’s eco-friendliness.

Glass Dharma is my favorite site to shop from.  Glass Straws, that can be washed out, and reused over and over again.  My mother in law also uses Glass Dharma.  She loves them as much as I do.  She really needed a straw that could be reused, because she was sick of those flimsy straws, that break as soon as you start to drink from them.  With Glass Dharma, she can use the straw over and over again, with just rinsing it with hot water.

We love the Decorative Dots glass straws the best.  They are so cool looking, and come in six colors.  We each know who’s drink is whose with these fun straws.

Colored dots add both fun and functionality. Use to color code your drinks (or just plain decorate your place setting), they also keep your straw from rolling off of the table or counter. Available in all 4 diameters and 6 colors: Red, Green, Blue, Amber, Clear and Black.

These particular, decorative dots, straws come in some great sizes, as well.  There’s Cocktails Size, as I call it, up to smoothie size.

You don’t have to get the Decorative Dots though, there are simple glass straws too.  You can get whatever you feel comfortable with, for a great value.  These are 6 1/4, in length, which makes them perfect for you glass of soda.

Whether the kids are clamoring for their own straws for their smaller juice glasses or you find the perfect fit for your favorite martini glass, our Shorties are sure to please.

If you’re looking to go a little greener, there are many things you might try. You might be using real dishes, ditching the aluminum pans for cast iron bake ware, or even using cloth diapers.

But there is one area in the “green scene” that is very much neglected – and that is parchment paper. If you like to bake, you probably find yourself going through roll after roll of parchment, for lack of a better alternative.

Well, that time can now come to an end.

COOKINA has created an  amazingly convenient baking sheet that is actually reusable! Isn’t that amazing?

IMG_6060

“Alternative to aluminum foil, parchment and wax paper, keeps your oven and baking trays clean. Suitable for microwaves, gas/electric ovens.

Every product is inspected before packing. The COOKINA® Ring is our
symbol of quality and authenticity and makes it easy to store your COOKINA® after use.”

The COOKINA baking sheets look like they are made of plastic, but are heat resistant up to 500 degrees (F)! They also work much better – you will experience less sticking, and therefore save time.

Because the COOKINA reusable baking sheet is just that – reusable – you will find yourself saving money along the way too. You only need to replace it once you see that your food begins to stick. By then you will see that it was worth the investment.

cookina 1

Each COOKINA reusable baking sheet roll comes with one sheet that is larger than your standard cookie sheet. You can then cut that sheet to size easily using a regular pair of scissors. For my baking sheet, one COOKINA roll covered it. For the smaller pans, I managed to get a few out of a roll, saving me even more money.

Along with your reusable baking sheet, you’ll get a sturdy metal ring for easy storage. You’ll also get a special scouring pad for easy cleanup inside the box.  You can use it in your microwave too, and makes a great protector for keeping it clean.

So what are you waiting for? Go green and give COOKINA’s reusable baking sheet a try!

It’s the time of year when we open up our windows, change our curtains, and start the big and deep Spring Cleaning. I think thousands of families look forward to this time of year, because it means de-cluttering.

During spring cleaning a lot of people discard items that can be recycled, they just didn’t know what, how or where to recycle. Below are some easy recycling tips for spring cleaning:

Easy Recycling Tips for Spring Cleaning

Easy-Recycling-Tips

1. Ask the question, “Can this be recycled?”

Seems elementary, but simply asking this question is the most crucial step.  It means you’ve made a conscious decision to engage in a more sustainable, safe and responsible lifestyle. Many items can be recycled – such as batteries, any old aluminum or metal appliance or furniture.

2. Do your homework.

Find out which items you’re looking to get rid of are recyclable.  A simple internet search will usually do, and you can find more information on websites like Earth911.com.

You can search by their Recycle Guide or Recycle Search. Under the Recycle Guide, you can search by category – such as automotive, electronics, paper, glass, etc. The Recycle Search can help you find locations near you.

3. Find a collection service or location near you.

Now that you’ve committed to recycling your old stuff, you need to know how and where.  For rechargeable batteries and cell phones, Call2Recycle has a network of more than 34,000 collection sites located within 10 miles of 89% of consumers across North America.  For other items, visit 1.800.RECYCLING.com or Earth911.com for a great list of recycling options.

Linda Gabor, Call2Recycle’s vice president of Marketing & Customer Service says, “I think just about everybody loves the springtime. Freeing yourself of unwanted junk and rediscovering the outdoors feels great, but doing something that helps the environment feels even better.”

Call2Recycle is North America’s first and largest consumer battery stewardship organization—a non-profit that collects and recycles batteries at no cost for municipalities, businesses and consumers.

Now that you are aware of online centers and have access to recycling information, take advantage of this knowledge and recycle while you’re Spring Cleaning this year. You are more than welcome to bookmark this page so that you can access the recycling links throughout the year.

Recycling programs can be found across the United States as part of our nation’s effort to contribute to a green earth. It requires a group effort to generate a positive impact, such as taking steps toward creating a more sustainable future.

Recycling has made tremendous strides in the last three decades. We can all help keep up the momentum to produce a greener world for the next generation and those to follow by taking small actions daily. The first step toward contributing to a green community is to check with your municipality or waste hauler to see what they accept in your curbside recycling program. You can also check online for more information about what you can recycle in your community. Next, make sure that you only recycle what is acceptable. Always rinse and dry recyclables. Do not forget the small items, such as paper straw wrappers. Finally, take non-curbside recyclables, including batteries and electronics, to local drop-off centers.

The impact of recycling in our world is phenomenal. For instance, one ton of recycled aluminum cans can conserve the amount of energy equivalent to about 1,665 gallons of gasoline, which is enough to fuel a passenger car for nearly three and a half years. Nationwide, we currently recycle 44 billion aluminum cans annually. That is enough to fuel 722,675 cars for over three years. As you can see in the infographic below, the impact of recycling daily truly makes a difference.
