Though fashion always evolves throughout the years, one thing never seems to change: kids always want to be a part of the next trending thing. Keeping up with what’s fashionable in the school ground is important for many kids, as it helps them feel included and accepted. Of course, this matters less and less as we get older, but for children, the latest and coolest accessories are of the utmost importance to have! Kids grow fast, and they outgrow clothes faster than they can wear them. If you’re tired of spending a small fortune on clothes for your kids, use our helpful tips to save money.

Stock up on several sizes at once

One of the biggest things I tell everyone is to stock up on larger sizes when things go on sale. When i was pregnant with my daughter, Target was discontinuing their Circo brand. I snatched up things in every size I could get my hands on (some of it I still have new in her closet for when she starts wearing 4t soon). With brand new tops for $2 and $3, I was able to save hundreds on brand new items in sizes she’s wear in the coming years.

Shop out of season

How many times have you gone shopping in January only to see racks of bathing suits? While you might not be thinking about buying a bathing suit in January, you are thinking about buying sweaters and coats. As stores move toward new seasons, they offer deep discounts on the current season’s merchandise. You could see significant savings on a winter coat in May. Start planning what clothing your kids need a few seasons in advance and watch the savings add up!

Shop online

Online retailers often offer online-only deals. Sites like Amazon and ebay often have overstock to clear out at steep discounts. You can also look for coupons for stores like Carters, The Children’s Place and Old Navy. The best part? You never have to leave your house and everything gets shipped right to your door.

Take advantage of yard sales

Yard sales are a great place to find children’s clothes. Everyone has clothes their kids don’t wear anymore, and people are happy to get rid of them. You’ll find things often in pristine condition, and sometimes even brand new/never worn. Kids grow quickly. Spending a lot of money on kids’ clothes is pointless, especially if your child never wears them.

In addition to yard sales, search for local clothing swaps in your area. These events are often large, with local moms bringing in their unwanted or unused children’s clothes to swap with other moms for the sizes or styles they’re looking for.

Look for Hand-Me-Downs

Does anyone you know have clothes their child isn’t wearing anymore? Hand-me-downs are a great way to save money on kids clothes, and to be environmentally conscious while you’re at it. You can pass clothes around, keeping favorite outfits in rotation for years to come.

Save for clothing splurges

Saving money on your kid’s clothing means you’ll have extra leftover for occasional splurges. Use reward coupons for home for your kids to purchase an item they want, be it clothes or something else. Teach them to look for deals and make them smart shoppers later.

Back To School with Heat Holders

Heat Holders is the best brand, for socks, that I’ve found.

This is perfect for 5 year old, Jacob, this year, who is starting Kindergarten. He loves the warmth of his socks. They really hold the heat. When we have the air conditioner on, he puts them on, to keep him warm. It’s so nice that they have a children’s 10-2 1/2. Jacob is in a 10, so they will fit for a while. I’m so excited, as is Jacob. He’s so ready for those cold, winter mornings, now. He discovered the softness of Heat Holders Socks, as well. There is a large variety of colors for children as well. Green, Red, Blue, Purple, etc. Check them out now.

For me, I got a blanket. I love Heat Holders Blankets. So soft, and keeps me warm in this air conditioning. I’ve known of Heat Holders for a few years now, and I’ve been purchasing from them for about 3 years. This was my second blanket, and my husband has tried their socks, and loves them, as well. The Blanket is oversized, and we both fit under it. I have it on my Queen sized bed, and it fits perfectly.

I also got a Men’s Hat, because I thought this would keep Jacob warm in the winter. But, it’s actually too big on him, when other knit hats, his daddy’s size, fit. This is great, because now he can grow into it. I did have Joe, my hubby, try it on, and it fits him perfectly. He said maybe he’ll have to keep it, and buy Jacob a different one. He loves it!

We recently ordered for Jacob, my 5 year old, going to Kindergarten. The clothes are 100% Pima cotton, and are so nicely made. We had little things embroidered on the shirts, and they turned out perfect. Jacob loves his new clothes. I’ve always loved him in a collared shirt, it’s a little more dressy than just a tank top. And, these 100% Pima cotton shirts, keep Jacob cool. He’s not sweaty and hot, like he always was with a tank top on. These shirts are so stylish. And, I don’t want to forget the Bermuda Shorts he got either. He loves the style of them. I also received a Hoodie. It’s really cute. I couldn’t ask for better quality.

Kelsey MacLean not only has little boys clothes, but clothes for little girls, babies, and adults, as well. You won’t find a better quality, or more caring company than Kelsey MacLean. They take the time to make things perfect. Every piece, of clothing I received, is absolutely flawless. Jacob will go to school in style.

The skirt truly is the cutest thing. I am glad I have a boy, but if I had a girl, I would own that skirt for her.

You will truly love the quality of Kelsey MacLean. I know I do, and even 5 year old, Jacob, does.

Kelsey MacLean is monogrammed, and sent out within 24 – 48 hours. So you will have in a timely fashion. I ordered on Thursday, and received my order on Monday. This was great. I was able to try everything on Jacob, to make sure it fit. And, he loves the monogrammed pictures we picked out.

LuLaRoe is an amazing company that I just found out about.

I love LuLaRoe stuff more than ever. I just received a Maxi from Ali Vu, and it fits perfect, and I feel so comfortable in it. It is almost like I’m not wearing anything, thanks to the comfort. I have a little sweater that I wear with it, due to heavy arms. I would love to order more LuLaRoe, and will eventually. My 5 year old, Jacob, will be starting school on September 6, and what better outfit to wear, than this Maxi, by LuLaRoe, to the school for Meet the Teacher. I’ll feel so beautiful, and I bet I get asked, several times, where I got my dress from.

The prices are right on for the quality.

The Maxi is actually a skirt, but when you are 5 foot 1 inch, you can wear it as a dress. It still goes all the way down to my ankles, which I love, because my ankles are big. Ever since I became a Plus Size Woman, my legs have become extra large. This is why I only wear long skirts, and dresses. So LuLaRoe has definitely come through for me.

Summer brings hot days, swimming, and sadly sunburns. Over a month ago I had the pleasure of going to Orlando, Florida for a PR trip to Discovery Cove for Mom Blog Society with my granddaughter. It was the first time I think in 17 years that I have worn a bathing suit (as well as purchased one). So you can only image that my skin was more sensitive than normal. I did wear sunscreen. Only to find out I had missed some spots and with all of the time out in the sun and water, I burnt pretty bad.

They are made from special swim material which is made up from 80% Lycra and 20% Spandex. What I do like is they are non-clingy in the water and they dry extra quickly. Another plus is that they are made in the US.

Sunburns can cause dehydration, sun poisoning as well as blisters. It can turn your awesome vacation into time spent at the ER or stuck in your hotel room. I was afraid they would be too heavy to wear in the heat and getting wet, but it almost felt lighter than my actual swimming suit.
